Ever feel like life is just hard. Like you *should* be somewhere better mentally, emotionally or even physically? You take one step forward to only take ten steps back. You’re up one day then down the next. I know you know what I am talking about.
Let me tell you this is life, and life is HARD. It doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you necessarily. No matter who you are and/ or where you started out in life, you will find that what one faces and lives to overcome another is born with an immediate advantage over. No one walks through life with a bowl of chocolate covered rainbows EVERY MOMENT in their life. Don’t let this age of social media make you believe that there is someone on this planet that does. We will face hardships, and that is a promise.
Even King David, a man after God’s heart, had issues and days where he had to preach himself happy. How much more will you and I?
The good news is, despite this reality of life, we have this hope: with God, we can have abundance in life. Abundant joy, peace, love, and hope, because of what, or should I say who was given to and for us: Jesus.
I love when there is a song that can pretty much sum up the season of life I am in. This song is called Hills and Valleys by Tauren Wells. It really is speaking to me right now. Here is the song and lyrics:
I’ve walked among the shadows
You wiped my tears away
And I’ve felt the pain of heartbreak
And I’ve seen the brighter days
And I’ve prayed prayers to heaven from my lowest place
And I have held the blessings
God, you give and take away
No matter what I have, Your grace is enough
No matter where I am, I’m standing in Your love
On the mountains, I will bow my life
To the one who set me there
In the valley, I will lift my eyes to the one who sees me there
When I’m standing on the mountain I, didn’t get there on my own
When I’m walking through the valley I, know I am not alone!
You’re God of the hills and valleys!
Hills and Valleys!
God of the hills and valleys
And I am not alone!
I’ve watched my dreams get broken
In you, I hope again!
No matter what I know
I know I’m safe inside Your hand
And I am not alone
He is God and good in the ups and in the downs.
He makes the good times great and the bad times beautiful and full of purpose.
He is the God who hears you, sees you and is moved to action when you pray. Your tears are not a waste and your heartache is not in vain.
