Have you recently found out that you or your partner are expecting a new baby? First off, congratulations!! Now it’s time to finally get an answer in place for all those people wondering what you will need. Only one thing to decide first: who will you use to host your baby registry? There are hundreds of options for you to choose from. However, of all the registries I have used over the course of registering four times, using Amazon is by far the best option!

What is a Baby Registry
A baby registry is simply a list of items needed or desired for a new baby. Amazon’s baby registry option is similar to any baby registry. You will need to take a few moments to populate your list with items and then share that list with your family, friends and even coworkers. Change or update the items on your registry at any time and even refer back to your registry once baby has arrived to purchase items you are still in need of.
Why Amazon’s Baby Registry is the Best
Well, Amazon has everything! We all know and love that about Amazon, right?! With Prime membership, Amazon is even more of a family favorite. Creating your registry as an Amazon Prime member, you will get extra kick-backs and it makes it well worth it! Here are a reasons why Amazon’s Baby Registry is the Best to use.
Amazon will pretty much have everything you need, but in the case that you find an item that you would like not available on Amazon, you still can add it your baby registry. Add products from any website using Amazon Assistant. A perfect example is adding handmade items from Etsy, or even services.
Most stores give you 30 days to return an item purchased. After that you are stuck with it or if you don’t have the receipt to prove that your purchased the item, you will get store credit. Most of the time you end up getting a fraction of the price as they give you the lowest marked down price of the item. Getting a whole year to return an item is a game changer!
I used Amazon to register for baby #4 and am so glad I did! I purchased an electric nail filer through my link and would you believe when I finally had the mental capacity to sit down and try it baby was 3 months old and it didn’t work! I was surprised that I still had the option to return in when viewing the item in my order history. The funds were returned to my account without a problem. This simply would not have happened if I registered at a brick and mortar store like Target or Walmart or if I used another online registry and imported my amazon list elsewhere.
A completion discount is a discount offered to purchase items on your registry that have not been purchased. The best time to use your completion discount is after you have had your baby shower(s). Since you will likely need or want to purchase some of the items you didn’t get as gifts, it is a major plus to save a few extra dollars. With Amazon’s baby registry, you will get a one-time 10% discount. (If you are a prime member that is increased to 15%!), on select items left on your registry. Walmart does not offer their customers a completion discount at all.
Free Welcome Box
Customers can receive a free welcome box for use when baby arrives. This may be items for baby or parents. The box is valued anywhere up to $35 and may include sample or full size products.
To qualify for the free welcome box, you must:
- have an active Prime account (try Amazon Prime for free for 30 days!)
- work through the user friendly checklist to complete the baby registry
- have over $10 worth of purchases from your list of registered items
Split cost of big ticket items
This is a really cool feature to have multiple people contribute to more expensive gifts. This may include items like the the glider I registered for below, a crib, or even this carseat/ stroller combo. When using the group gifting option, all contributions are received as a gift card and can be used towards the purchase of the items on your registry.
What is in Amazon’s Baby Registry Gift Box?
If you search for what in the welcome box on Amazon’s website, you will find the answer: it’s a surprise! If you’re like me, you may not always like surprises, though. When I got my welcome box in the mail, I couldn’t wait to tear it open to see what was in it!
Keeping in mind each one is likely different, here’s what was in my welcome box:
1. Water Wipes
I was really excited to see these in the box. My sister had told me about them and I was really hoping they would be included. They baby wipes that are 99.9% water; the remaining .10% is fruit extra. It doesn’t get much purer than that! They ares so soft too! A sample size pack of 10 wipes was included.
2. Honest Company Shampoo & Body Wash
I have purchased this before and love this baby wash. It smells SO GOOD! I don’t even have words! This Sweet Orange Vanilla scent smells exactly as described. Not to strong and not too light. A sample size was included.
3. Avent Baby Bottle
I personally prefer glass bottles and this time around planned to try this one (which we did and love!) but you can never have too many bottle options. Babies have a tendency to be picky with bottles and binkies and you just never know which they will like. One 4 oz bottle was included.
4. Cetaphil Baby Wash& Shampoo
I don’t know how I never managed to give this a try, but it is my new found favorite baby wash. The soap is tear free (a must have in a baby wash), paraben, colorant, and mineral oil free, as well as hypoallergenic. I have made this part of baby’s bath routine. Works well for baby’s face, hair, and body. A sample size was included.
5. Aveeno Daily Moisturizer Lotion
Aveeno is another brand I am familiar with, as I have used it for myself! Keeping baby’s skin soft means taking a proactive approach to dryness. A good lotion is key in dryer climates or babies with naturally dry skin. I typically use coconut oil, but I do plan to give this a try. A sample size was included in the box.
For baby #1 I had so much Dreft laundry detergent! Turns out, at least in my home, babies can use the same detergent we use (I’m a fan of this one, since it works on cloth diapers too). HOWEVER, I can see why this exists and I bet it totally works for babies with sensitive skin. In any case, with all the laundry infants create, I will without a doubt put this to use. A sample size was included.
7. Avent Nursing Pads
Nursing pads are a staple for any nursing mama. These disposable pads will save you of a lifetime of embarrassment from leaks. I typically using the Lansinoh brand, so these will hang out in the diaper bag as a spare set. Two nursing pads were included in the box.
8. Amazing Baby Muslin Swaddle (46 in x 46 in.)
The rumor on the street was that there would be a muslin swaddle included in the gift box and I was really hoping that would be the case for me! This full size blanket is perfect for swaddling the first few weeks. Now that my little one is a few months and no longer swaddled, we use it as a receiving blanket. It’s so cute and soft!
My personal experience with using Amazon for my baby registry was a positive one and I would defiantly use them again. I loved receiving the welcome box and all of the goodies inside! I also really loved being able to use my completion discount on items from my registry and receive them in 2 days (thank you Prime!). So are you ready to take the leap?
